South Whitley is a welcoming community located in the southern part of Whitley County.  We are located conveniently within a short drive to larger cities including;  Warsaw, Huntington and Fort Wayne.  We are home to three large employers and many smaller businesses.   Whitko Community Schools is anchored within our community including Whitko High School and South Whitley Elementary School.

The community was originally platted along the banks of the Eel River by Joseph Parrett in 1837 and is the oldest town in Whitley County.

Points of Interest:

- The South Whitley Public Library, located at 201 East Front Street, is a wonderful community resource. The Library, recently expanded and beautifully renovated, has a wide range of materials available in various formats, public computers, and free wireless access along with educational, cultural, and entertaining programming for all ages. The Storytime Tree, Schultz Gem Collection, and the Local History and Genealogy Area are unique and popular features. Two meeting rooms with audio/visual equipment and kitchen access are available for use.

- The Eel River.  Public access sites are available in our parks, also the Collamer Dam is a short distance to the west and offers a scenic picnic, canoeing and fishing area.

The citizens of South Whitley are proud of their town.  Its high livability, new growth opportunities, and relaxed atmosphere make South Whitley the best of both worlds.  Come be a part of Small Town America.  It's a great place to call home.
