The South Whitley Fall Festival began in 1975, sponsored by the local chamber of commerce. It was formally known as the BED RACE FESTIVAL. Bed racers from all over the region would come to South Whitley for our annual event. We coined the phrase “Bed Race Capital of the World”, and started the trend of bed racing throughout the area. Parker Brothers game, Trivial Pursuit, asked the question, where the Bed Race Capital of the World could be found.
Sadly, the festival came to an end in 2009 because of the lack of volunteers to take on the event.
In 2016 the festival was brought back to life! Many young volunteers have taken on the event to share the experience with their children. The festival continues to grow as we celebrate life in South Whitley. The South Whitley Fall Festival brings our community together to share our traditions, values, and hospitality.
Thank you to our many volunteers that make the weekend possible!
